Subject : 96 Cherokee 2.5TD won't Start
Hi....After a long period of non-use I started the 1996 Cherokee 2.5TD, drove it down the yard to wash it. After a few minutes of running it stuttered and quit. Since then I have been unable to start it. It turns over OK and jumping doesn't work, hence battery not the problem. Ther is Diesel at the Diesel Filter and air has been bled out. Can anyone help?

Subject : Cherokee steering wanders
Hi, Just had MOT, which included new outer CV Joints (just purchased the car) on driving it seems to be vague on steering. Tyre pressures all ok, tyres wearing evenly checked underneath no apparent play in steering, hardly any free play. Notice it does self centralise after turning corners. Any suggestions?

Subject : XJ 2.5 TD cuts out
hi,
My 2.5TD 1998 XJ has developed a strange fault. Whne driving along and slowing for a roundabout / junction, it will sometimes cut out. Switch off / on then wait for the lights to go and she starts and runs ok. This may happen once aday, several times or never, it's completely random. I'm hoping someone here wil have an idea of where to look for the gremlin as it's extremely frustrating, not knowing when this will occur again.
Cheers,
Cal.

Hi Cal, I have a 2001 XJ 2.5TD and it does exactly the same, usually when decelerating on the motorway which scared the cr*p out of me when it first happened. have you found any reason why it happens?

    Cheers Pete

      Hi Pete,
Yes I have got it fixed. It was the "fuel quantity Actuator" in the Injector pump. Not cheap!!!! circa £700.00!!
Contact these guys, they did mine and it is first class now.
      http://www.powerdrivediesels.com/index.html
The cost is wirth it if you intend keeping your XJ, you may get a cheaper pump on;line, but then it needs checking and fittingso may not be all that much cheaqper in the long run, at least this wat it's done and tested.
      Cheers,
      Cal.

Subject : Jeep Chrokee Fob
Hi we have a L REG 1993/4 limited 4.00

its been sat in the corner since my wife holed the petrol tank. Since then the battery went flat on the jeep, I charged it up and since then the fob wont work, can we cant start the jeep using the key.

our local jeep dealer is long gone, I can get a replacement fob but i have been told it's got to go to a dealer with the vehicle to be paired, so i will have to trailer the jeep to southampton to get this done. surely there must be another easier way.

cheers KEV

try losing traction as you disengage going forward..if no good try disengaging in reverse for a few metres as this usually does the trick

another thing dont use part time 4x4 on dry tarmac roads etc as you will do a great deal of damage..only in extreme circumstances would you require it..stick to full time 4x4 and make sure you use it often or it will seize

I own a Jeep Cherokee XJ Orvis TD and live in wolverhampton, do you know of any decent, "straight" and resonable garages in the Wolverhampton or surrounding areas that can work on my XJ? I have been taking it to EDM in bicester but its just to far to travel for repairs.
        Thanks

Hi Matt, Hope all goes well in your move, as to your question, there are loads off XJ's over here but they are just called Jeep Cherokee's, There are loads of places to get parts and services all over the UK, its probably the most common Jeep here. Good Luck.

4,000 sounds about max for this, they are not the fastest moters in the world, it is a diesle and the beauty of a diesle is high torque at low revs if you want speed buy a porche
