I have just encountered the same problem as you. Took my Kia offroading with BOFA4x4 club and was performing great alongside all the other 4x4's until I came to a dead stop on a tree root. After this the 4L and 4H showed as being engaged but I had real problems climbing inclines, the real wheels were spinning but the front just would not respond.
I am not sure whether this is because the front hubs or the front diff has gone or whether is it the bearings.
If you find out any info, would be great if you could let me know. IF I find any answers I will keep you posted.

    Thanks

Had the same thing happen to my sportage. Turned out the front hubs are vacuum operated and the rubber pipes that connect to the back of the wheel hubs had broke off .

Subject : Kia Sorento windscreen washer problem
Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has come across a similar problem to the one I have my Kia Sorento.

When I pull the wiper stalk backwards to activate the windscreen washer, I get one "scoosh" of water & that's it ... the wipers go across the screen twice & stop. No matter what I try, I cannot get the washer to give more than one "scoosh" before stopping, even holding the stalk backwards for 30 seconds. The pump is obviously working, or I wouldn't get any water out at all, the jets are not blocked, and the reservoir is full of water.

Any advice would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks,

Gary

where the pump goes into the water bottle could be where the problem is. although the bottle is full there could be dirt at the bottom of the bottle which is being sucked up when you activate it.
need to remove the pump from the bottle and clean it out.. hope this helps find it is a common problem on cars..

Is your vehicle still under warrenty? I thin it should be unles you bought one and imported it from say Ireland. Watch out if diesel as the no 3 injector pipe can ause you problems. It did for me. 25 miles and 7 gallons od diesel

Subject : fuel
I just purchased a 2000 Kia Sportage EX Ive had it now for 7 days inth ose seven days I have had to fill the car up every 2 days. I travel 50miles to work and 50miles back. I think burning a full tank of gas is a bit much maybe i could be wrong but its like nothing I ever experienced even in owning a v6 I bought the vehicle mainly because I was told the fuel consumption is relatively low which makes me save on gas. I would like to know if there are some possible causes to make this happen in this kind of vehicle. The dealer seems to think its all in my head they are hesitant on looking into it further. I also noticed when i put gas in the fuel gauge seems to take about 5 minutes to register the amount of fuel in the tank. Is that normal. I would really appreciate any info on this to help me. I know I already own the vehicle but if it is something they are liable for that would help me a great deal.
Thank you to all responses!

    Hi
you need to find out exactly what the car is doing to the gallon the manufacturer is liable if this out of their quoted figures by a certain amount, if you are interested I have an excel file which can calculate your mpg of a period of time and without having to fill up. When you have this info you can report back to your dealer with hard facts.

If you are asking about a front brush-guard or grill-guard, no I don't believe so and to find a full brush-gaurd with the headlight guards is hard to find. I found only one place that makes them online by a company called WAG. I bought one and it bolts on to the ends of your frame under the bumper. It looks sharp and serves the purpose. Price is high though about $650. Can find pics of my Kia with the brush guard at www.myspace.com/blootpage

Just bought one, we only have the 3.5ltr all alloy V6 version in Australia. Same engine that is in the Hyundai Terracan I believe. I average 13 ltr/100klm which is excellent compared to my Nissan Patrol at 20ltr/100klms!!!
It drives a like a Falcon or Commodore (Senetor or Grenada in UK?) It could use a lift kit in it as the areas I go are pretty extreme. It goes great in the sand with a minimum of 3 wheels driving thanks to the limited slip diff. The breaks are phenominal as is the rid and comfort. I got mine with leather and sun roof. Ex demo 150ks on the clock got it for $39,800 aus.
